The Opera della Primaziale museum: opened in 1987, it is a gallery of works of art related to the square, from the original statues by Busketo, Rainaldo, Guglielmo, Nicola and Giovanni Pisano to the tombs by Nino and Andrea Pisano, Tino di Camaino and Andrea Guardi. The route, completely renovated, makes it possible to relive the whole history of the square, its stylistic influences, the original furnishings and the great choral works. Absolute masterpieces are Madonna and child and Ivory Madonna, by Giovanni Pisano, the great Borgognone Christ of the thirteenth century and the iconic Gryphon from the twelfth century, a war treasure of the Pisans, probably arrived from Spain and part of a sculptural group of a monumental fountain. Do not miss the very faithful scale reproduction of the Tower of Pisa, made with 25,000 pieces of Volterra alabaster.
