Via Livia Gereschi (M. Pileri)
We remember Livia Gereschi for her courage and her love of her neighbour. Livia had a degree in foreign languages and was a German teacher. During the Second World War, she was in Molina di Quosa, a small village at the foot of Monte Pisano, where many persons were displaced. The night between 6 and 7 August 1944, the Germans arrived and 'rounded up' men, women and children. Among them there was also her, who, speaking German, asked the soldiers to free them. They declined, and she then proposed to release at least women and children. This second request was accepted, women and children were saved, but there was nothing to be done for the men, nor for Livia Gereschi. Their names are written on the Monument to the fallen of La Romagna, near Molina di Quosa.
