Kobra "Galileo Galilei"

Near the ‘Tuttomondo’ mural, created by Keith Haring and located on the wall of the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, is a mural dedicated to Galileo Galilei, created by the Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra in November 2023.
The artwork is situated on Via Silvio Pellico and covers an area of over 160 square metres.
The large mural depicts Galileo Galilei holding the Leaning Tower of Pisa – an iconic symbol of the city – in his hands and transforming it into an astronomical telescope. This motif not only highlights the link between the famous scientist and the city of Pisa, but also evokes his passion for observing the planets and the universe, which marked a momentous turning point in the history of science.
Kobra, with his unmistakable style characterised by vibrant colours and bold geometric shapes, pays tribute to the great Tuscan scientist, depicted with his long grey beard and an intense expression that reflects the depth of his studies and conveys a message of hope: in an increasingly interconnected world, it is possible to build bridges between different cultures and ideas.
