During these autumn weeks, the Ancient Walls of Pisa are open for visits from Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with last admission at 4.30 p.m., with an extraordinary opening on Thursday 8th December, while from 23rd December to 8th January they will be open every day including New Year's Day, with the only closing day being Sunday 25th December.

It starts on Sunday 4th December with the children's workshop 'Let's Colour Christmas on the Walls': from 3 to 4.30 p.m., at Torre del Catallo space overlooking Piazza dei Miracoli, decorations will be made with re-used materials, in particular paper and cardboard. The works will be used to decorate the Walls. Dedicated to children up to the age of 10, maximum 15 participants, accompanying adults must enter free of charge. Possibility to stay until 5 pm to enjoy the sunset over Piazza dei Miracoli from the top of the walkway.

Following this, the night-time film tours curated by Acquario della Memoria return in the 'Classic' and 'Second World War' versions. The Classic tour is an original narrative that, through immersive projections and audio, allows visitors to relive the history of the city from Roman times to medieval glories, from the industrial revolution to the present day. The tour on the Second World War retraces the events of the city from the entry into the war to the liberation: the enthusiasm of the beginning, the bombing, the German occupation, the resistance of the Casarosa partisan brigade, the city divided in two by the Arno front, the cathedral invaded by evacuees, the Camposanto Monumentale fire, the Nazi round-ups, the liberation. The appointments will be held on Saturday 10th December (Classic tour), Saturday 17th December (War tour), Monday 26th December and Sunday 1st January (Classic tour), Saturday 7th January (War tour). The start of the tours, real 'walking cinema' experiences, will be at 6 p.m. at the Torre Piezometrica (Polo Fibonacci, ex Marzotto, with access from the cycle-pedestrian walkway outside the Walls, which can be reached from Via San Francesco or Via Vittorio Veneto), arriving at approximately 7.30 p.m. in Piazza dei Miracoli. The length of the walk is approximately 2 kilometres. Tickets are 10 euro (plus 1.50 euro pre-sale), free of charge for accompanying persons with disabilities, recommended for visitors aged 12 and over.

For all events, booking recommended while places last. Info by calling 0500987480 Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the website, on the App Mura di Pisa. People with disabilities, with prior notice, will be able to go up and down the Torre Piezometrica lift. For the opening days full price ticket at 5 euro, reduced price ticket at 3 euro for residents and students, 4 euro concessionary ticket, free up to 8 years old and for disabled and accompanying persons, to be made directly at the entrance or online.

CoopCulture, Cooperativa Itinera and Promocultura make up the association of enterprises that manages the high-altitude walkway of the Ancient Walls of Pisa. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, the Walls of Pisa are an example of the military architecture of the time, a sign of the greatness of the Pisan Republic and today a privileged vantage point from which to admire the city.

The Walls of Pisa Night Experience project is conceived and developed by the cultural association Acquario della Memoria and supported by Fondazione Pisa, in collaboration with other partners including Ati Mura di Pisa (CoopCulture, Itinera, Promocultura), the Municipality of Pisa, Mappa Lab - University of Pisa - Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge, Nanof, Internet Festival, Alma Artis Academy.
