Palazzo Poschi
Palazzo Poschi is a historic building in the heart of Pisa, along Borgo Stretto, one of the city centre’s most characteristic streets. The complex consists of two sections built in different periods and in distinct architectural styles: an ancient medieval tower dating from the eleventh or twelfth century, and a fifteenth-century building constructed above a portico.
The façade is distinguished by elegant pairs of mullioned windows with marble columns, reflecting the importance of the building and the architectural character of medieval and late-medieval Pisa. The palazzo also stands beside the Torre dei Taccola, another important example of Pisan medieval architecture.
This elegant building offers a rare opportunity to observe several stages of Pisa’s architectural history in a single location. Its position along Borgo Stretto also makes it an easy landmark to encounter while exploring the historic city centre on foot. The name of the palazzo is associated with the Poschi family, an important family in medieval Pisa.
