MARINA DI PISA...IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF D'ANNUNZIO

A walk from Bocca d'Arno to the Tombolo Estate along nature trails and the streets of the town in search of those details that will help us rediscover the history of Marina di Pisa at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. From a seaside resort to a destination frequented by the famous poet D'Annunzio, Viviani, Dino Campana and other poets, painters and extravagant characters who animated the life of the town. A journey through time that takes us back to the Belle Époque period, the steamboats on the river and the first trips on the trammino, the Art Nouveau architecture, the wide beaches and the typical wooden chalets now worn out by the slow action of the sea and the wind. The backdrop to our stories will be the wild nature that has always influenced the beauty and marked the life of this town.

When: Saturday 30 October at 2.30 p.m.; Sunday 31 October at 10.30 a.m.

Meeting Point: Garibaldi Obelisk at the Port of Pisa. Meeting point: 10 minutes before the start of the tour.

URBAN TREKKING IN PISA: TRAVELLERS IN THE 19TH CENTURY

Pisa in the 19th century, with the creation of large squares and the embankments of the Lungarni, changed its face also thanks to the arrival of numerous travellers such as Leopardi, Byron, P. B. Shelley and Mary Shelley. These enterprising characters were welcomed into the many literary salons, such as the elegant one of Countess Elena Mastiani Brunacci or that of Sophie Caudeiron in Palazzo Lanfranchi, now the Museum of Graphics. The itinerary will develop along the axis of the Arno following a "vagabonding" tourism pattern, penetrating the alleys of the city in search of those details that will make us see Pisa through the eyes of these bizarre travellers".

When: Saturday 30 October at 2.30 p.m.; Sunday 31 October at 10.30 a.m. or 2.30 p.m.
Meeting Point: Piazza XX Settembre in front of Palazzo Gambacorti. Meeting point: 10 minutes before the start of the tour.
