From Monday, November 2nd, 2026, the photographic exhibition Il Silenzio Infranto will be open to visitors in the Pisa Town Hall. A visual journey through emotions, awareness, and rebirth, a project conceived as part of citizen initiatives dedicated to raising awareness of violence against women. The exhibition, which will remain open to visitors until November 13, is part of the program of initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Pisa and the City Council for Equal Opportunities in view of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Broken Silence is a photographic project born from author Francesca Gattai's urgency to give voice and visibility to what too often remains hidden: violence against women, in its many forms. Through an emotional and visual path, the exhibition invites us to break the veil of silence, to cross it and transform it into testimony. The images do not show violence directly, but suggest its presence with delicacy and intensity: absences, restrained gestures, empty spaces, and suspended glances become eloquent traces of a reality that demands recognition. The images do not seek to explain, but to evoke. Every shot is a wound that speaks, a gesture that denounces, a gaze that breaks the silence. The face, body, and spaces portrayed are fragments of one of the many stories that need no words to understand. Red, black and white become symbols: of violence, silence, hope. "The Broken Silence" is not just an exhibition. It is an invitation to look, to recognize, not to look elsewhere. It is a poetic act that reminds us that art can become an instrument of justice and change.

The exhibition offers a journey through twelve images that address the theme of violence against women from an unusual and profoundly human perspective. The photographs do not show the violence, but tell its echo: the silence, the loss of identity, the fear, the confusion, and that slow path of awareness that can lead to rebirth. Through reflections, shadows and fragmentations of the image, the project tries to give visual form to what often remains invisible. The journey unfolds as a story in four symbolic stages: The Closing Silence, The Crack, Awareness, and The Returning Voice. A path that takes the visitor through the emotions and transformations that can lead from pain to freedom.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until Friday, November 13, 2026, at the Atrio del Comune in Pisa. Admission is free and the exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday, with continuous hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
