On Monday, 8 December 2025, as per tradition, the historic Meucci mechanical nativity scenes will reopen to the public and can be visited until Sunday, 25 January 2026, during the museum's opening hours.
These nativity scenes were designed and created in the middle of the last century by the skilled hands of Alberto and Renzo Meucci from Calcesani, with the help of talented collaborators.
After the first nativity scene, dating back to Christmas 1948, others were built, which Renzo and Alberto took to Pisa, Livorno, Bologna, Verona, Milan, Turin, Parma, Ferrara, Rome and even Bogota, Colombia.
Since 2013, the nativity scenes have been set up in the premises of the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa and every year, during the festive season, they return to amaze young and old alike with their scenery, details and movements of the characters.
Once again this year, the Meucci nativity scenes are part of the “Terre di presepi” network.
The exhibition is included in the museum admission ticket. For those who wish to visit only the nativity scenes, the ticket price is 1 euro.
