The exhibition traces, through a selection of manuscripts in reproduction, the history of Colonia Alfea, one of the most alive and enduring realities of Italian Arcadia.
Founded in 1700, the Colony intertwined literary production and city life, deeply rooted in the Pisan fabric: from Goldoni's famous anecdote of the meetings under the plane tree of the Scotto Garden, immortalized in Annibale Gatti's painting at the Teatro Verdi, to the Pisan stay of Giacomo Leopardi, who entered the Colony under the Arcadian name of Soristo.
The tour also gives voice to lesser-known protagonists, such as poets Maria Selvaggia Borghini and Maria Luisa Cicci, and shows how the Academy constantly engaged with the city, including librettos for the Gioco del Ponte and compositions for civic events such as the inauguration of the statue of Galileo in 1839.
The exhibition will be held at Bastione Sangallo, from October 4th to 9th, with a 45-minute exhibition. The initiative is open to the public and citizens, with educational and educational purposes, particularly targeting students and local schools.
