Celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Republic will take place in Pisa on Tuesday, June 2, featuring a program of events organized by the Prefecture of Pisa in collaboration with the City of Pisa and the Province.

At 9:45 a.m., in Piazza Mazzini, the official ceremony will take place, featuring a joint military guard of honor and the flag-raising ceremony. This will be followed by the performance of the National Anthem, a message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and remarks by the Prefect of Pisa, Maria Luisa D’Alessandro. Honors will be awarded during the ceremony. This will be followed by remarks from city officials, the Mayor of Pisa, Michele Conti, the Director of the Scuola Normale, Alessandro Schiesaro, and students from the “Leonardo Da Vinci” Comprehensive School in Castelfranco di Sotto. The European Anthem will conclude the official proceedings.

At 7:00 p.m., at the Logge di Banchi, the Pisa Philharmonic Society will present a concert open to the public.

At 9:00 p.m. in piazza XX Settembre a live broadcast from Piazza del Quirinale will be shown on the large screen set up in the square to mark the 80th anniversary of the Republic.

The City of Pisa invites residents to participate in the events planned for Republic Day.

TRAFFIC AND PARKING CHANGES. To allow for the celebrations on June 2, several temporary changes to traffic and parking are planned: from 8:00 a.m. on May 30 to 8:00 p.m. on June 3 in Piazza Mazzini, a no-parking zone with mandatory towing will be in effect, including the removal of bicycles from bike racks; From 3:00 PM on June 1 to 8:00 PM on June 2 in Piazza Mazzini, a no-parking zone with mandatory towing will be in effect, and the area will be closed to vehicular traffic except for authorized vehicles; From 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM on June 2, on Lungarno Mediceo, a no-parking zone with mandatory towing will be in effect, and the area will be closed to vehicular traffic except for authorized vehicles; in Piazza della Repubblica, a no-parking zone with mandatory towing will be in effect throughout the entire square, except for authorized vehicles; on Via Del Buschetto, a no-parking zone with mandatory towing on both sides, except for authorized vehicles; from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on June 2: deactivation of the ZTL gates in Piazza Mazzini and Via di Simone, and the “out” gates (exit-only) on Via delle Maioliche and Via San Francesco.
