In May, the traditional Meditations in Music, promoted by the Diocesan Service for Culture and the University, return to the Church of San Frediano. These evenings feature live music introduced by reflections, entrusted for the second year to Monsignor Roberto Filippini, Bishop Emeritus of Pescia.
In light of the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, this edition, entitled “Laudato si’, mi' Signore”, presents an entirely Franciscan program, structured over two evenings with free admission.
On Friday, May 15 at 9:15 p.m., the first concert, “Nudo incontro al Signore” (“A Naked Encounter with the Lord”), will take place, featuring the Vox Umana Ensemble of Pisa, tenor Alberto Fonti, narrator Angela Marradi, flautist Nicoletta Zannoni, and pianist Silvia Rossi, conducted by Maestro Massimo Gelichi. The program will include laude from the Laudario di Cortona, compositions by contemporary authors, and, in its premiere performance, the sacred cantata Francesco by Claudiano Pallottini.
The second event will follow on Friday, May 22 at 9:15 p.m., with the Coro Polifonico San Nicola, together with soloists Sonia Ciani (soprano), Alessia Baldinotti (contralto), Carlo Morini (baritone), Salvatore Ciulla (narrator), and the Tuscan Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Stefano Barandoni. They will present the concert “La passione nel corpo e la lode nel cuore” (“Passion in the Body and Praise in the Heart”), featuring a performance of Quadri Francescani by Marco Bargagna, including “Apparuit Gratia Dei”, “Nel crudo sasso”, and “Cantico di frate Sole”.
