The Festival of Calabrian Culture returns to Pisa for its 22nd edition, running from 23 to 30 September 2026.
The event, organised by the Esperia Calabrian Cultural Association, will take place under the patronage of Pisa City Council and the Calabria Region, in collaboration with Cinema Arsenale, Slow Food, Libreria Pellegrini and Domus Mazziniana.
PROGRAMME
Wednesday 23 September, 6.00 pm at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale - opening of the photography exhibition “Calabrinaggi” by Angelo Maggio, curated by the artist himself.
Speakers will include art critic Sandra Lucarelli and Prof. Francescomaria Tedesco.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until Wednesday 30 September, from 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm.
Thursday 24 September, 6.00 pm, at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale - presentation of the book “Tempi e temi mediterranei” by Prof. Salvatore Berlingò. Speakers will include Professors Antonino Mantineo and Mario Ferrante. The event will be moderated by Prof. Pierluigi Consorti.
Friday 25 September, 6.00 pm, at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale - presentation of the book "San Francesco da Paola. Amore e carità nel cammino verso Dio", published by Patrimoni d’Arte. Speakers: Peter Masi, Maurizio Carnevali, Filippo Capellupo and Nicodemo Vitetta; moderated by Prof. Luigi Mariano Guzzo.
Saturday 26 September, 6.00 pm, at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale – presentation of the book “Where the Cuckoo Sings” by Gioacchino Criaco. Moderated by Prof. Alessandra Pucci.
Sunday 27 September, 11.00 am–1.00 pm, Ristorante Villa Maja (Via Piccina 14, Cascina)
- Fresh pasta workshop with chef Francesco Messina;
- social lunch in collaboration with Slow Food Pisa and Colline Pisane;
Monday 28 September, 9.00 pm, at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale – screening of the documentary “Brunori Sas – Il tempo delle noci” by director Giacomo Triglia. The director will be in attendance.
Tuesday 29 September, 9.00 pm, at Domus Mazziniana - presentation of the book "La storia tra i banchi" by Prof. Giuseppe Ferraro. Opening remarks by Prof. Pietro Farinelli (director of the Domus) and Dr Quintino Berardi.
Speeches by Professors Enrico Acciai, Gianfranco Bandini and Enrica Salvatori. Moderated by Professor Mariangela Priarolo.
Wednesday 30 September, 9.00 pm, at Sammartino, Spazio Arsenale - "Pavese d'amore" a monologue by and starring Domenico Dara.
