The Fortilizio della Cittadella – Casa degli artisti Pisani is hosting the exhibition “Alla Prima. La pittura dell’Istante”, organised by Municipality of Pisa and curated by Giacomo Roberto, founder of the “Alla Prima” School of Painting.
The exhibition brings together twenty-four artists from Pisa, Tuscany and various Italian regions. The exhibition stems from a programme dedicated to the study and promotion of ‘Alla Prima’ painting, through courses, training activities and opportunities for dialogue between artists, and serves as a meeting point for a network of artists united by a shared vision of painting: a language based on observation, the ability to synthesise and the quality of the painterly gesture.
The exhibition also offers a reflection on the meaning of painting. In an age in which artificial intelligence is capable of generating images of extraordinary impact, the value of painting does not lie in the mere production of an image. Every painting, in fact, arises from a series of choices and intuitions that are unique to the artist. It is this process, even more so than the final result, that makes each work unique.
The artists taking part are: Ada Angelica Perchinenna, Alda Cristiani, Alessandra Valentina Bruzzi, Antonella Mannucci, Arianna Catalli, Carmen Vitello, Chiara Paciello, Danuta Sandomierska, Eleonora Giorgetti, Gabriella Donati, Giacomo Roberto, Giampaolo Bortignon, Leonardo Chiarini, Lisa Marcello, Luca Girolami, Luigia Saba, Marco Marraccini, Marco Reggiannini, Mario Migliaro, Michele D’Adderio, Roberta Beni, Stefano Agostini, Vincenza Dolce and Yuri Foschi.
The exhibition will be open from 3 to 27 September 2026. Admission is free, and visitors will be able to visit the Torre Guelfa at the following times:
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm;
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm;
Opening ceremony on Thursday 3 September at 5.00 pm.
