Even during the pandemic, Pisa pays homage to the great scientist Galileo Galilei. For the third year, in fact, the city celebrates its illustrious son on the day of his birth, which took place in Pisa on February 15, 1564. A tour of the places in Galileo's city (Sunday 14, departure from his birthplace), a webinar on Galileo "Dante's reader" with professors Alfredo Cottignoli, Riccardo Pratesi and Sergio Giudici (Monday 15), and a thematic contest with an exhibition at the Museum of Ancient Ships (until Friday 19) and the award ceremony which will take place in the prestigious Casino dei Nobili with the performance of Pisa Early music which will perform the famous “In exitu israel” composed by Vincenzo Galilei, Galileo's father.

The program is organized by the Municipality of Pisa, the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore. The events will be broadcast live on the social channels of the Municipality and the University.

Sunday 14 February

3.00 pm, Ammannati house (via Giuseppe Giusti, 24)

Inauguration of the immersive Galilean path. Meeting at Galileo's birthplace.

18:00, Casino dei Nobili, Piazza Garibaldi

Award ceremony of the contest "Galileo Galilei between art and science", second edition.

Performance of the piece "In exitu Israel" by Vincenzo Galilei, curated by Alessandro Carmignani and Pisa Early music.

Live streaming on the YouTube channel of the Municipality of Pisa.

Monday 15th February

5.00 pm: “The Infernale Theater: Galileo reading Dante. The Galilean reconstruction of the figure, site and dimensions of Dante's Inferno ".

Exhibition of the works competing in the contest "Galileo Galilei between art and science". Visitors will be able to vote for the best work until February 19. Unpacking of cards and awarding of the popular jury at 5.00 pm.
