Showcase of the three sculptures fished out of the Royal Moat in Livorno: in 1984, on the centenary of Modigliani’s birth, the citizens of Livorno were eager to find out if the rumors about his having thrown some of his sculptures into the Royal Moat were grounded . After several dredging actions were implemented, the three sculpted heads which eventually emerged from the water were identified as authentic works by many art critics. Some weeks later, three students and a dock worker with artistic talents revealed that they had faked the whole thing.
