Pisa from May 25th to 28th will be on stage for poetry and works by Dante Alighieri. After the great success of the 2016 'Dante Posticipato' (which continued the 750th anniversary of the birth of the great poet), Professor Marco Santagata has structured a new festival that will overcome the celebrations that in 2021 will mark the 700th anniversary of the Death of Dante Alighieri.
'Danteprima', the event sponsored by the major city institutions such as the City Hall, the University of Pisa, the Normale Superiore di Pisa, the Sant'Anna High School, the Fondazione Teatro di Pisa, the Palazzo Blu Foundation, the Opera del The Duomo, the Opera of Primavera Pisana, the Museum of Graphics, the Arsenal Cinema and the Tuscany Region, wants to be a total immersion of Pisa within the Dante's literature and the scenarios it is told and imagined.
In the four days that will be the festival, you will be able to attend a series of exhibitions, shows, performances and concerts that will have the life and works of the great poet of Italian history as a philosophy. 'Danteprima' will also be officially presented at the Salon del Libro of Turin, which will be held on May 18, and will see our region as a guest of the 2017 edition.
"A way to reiterate the strong support and the extreme proximity that Tuscany Region has always wanted to express to the values of culture and networks created by cultural institutions for this purpose," explains Alessandra Nardini, regional councilor. "A joint effort of the main Pisan university institutions in the setting up of a four-day event will catapult Pisa into the center of debates and events animated by eminent exponents of culture, literary and not only," comments the rector of the University of Pisa Paolo Mancarella.
EVENTS. The opening of the festival will be entrusted to lectio magistralis by Luigi Blasucci, with the subject 'In the laboratory of the poem'. The show will continue with the show of puppets for families and children 'The Inferno of Dante. A fantastic adventure ', which will enable you to involve even the youngest in the Dante's atmospheres, so as to broaden your participation in the cultural event as much as possible.
The closing of the event, scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28, is entrusted to an exceptional duo. On Saturday 27th, in Piazza dei Cavalieri, the master Nicola Piovani will lead the Ensemble Aracoeli and the Arché Orchestra in his composition 'La vita nuova'. On Sunday 28th, from the groups to the top of the Tower - for the first time in its multi-century history - actor Fabrizio Gifuni will perform in the declamation of the verses of Paradise, drawn by the Divine Comedy.
"With this festival, the city of Pisa is confirmed - concludes Mayor Marco Filippeschi - at the forefront of the proposal of a living and vital, enthralling cultural message. It will be an opportunity to take part in a demonstration that will remain in town history. "
