The exhibition – taking place within the showcase rooms at the second floor of Palazzo Blu – displays around 50 works including drawings, oil paintings and watercolours, many of which are part of private collections. As a whole, these unpublished or less known artworks bear witness to when the town was liberated by the allied troops.

Seventy years later, Palazzo Blu celebrates those dramatic days and the long-lasting wounds provoked by the bombing. The tale of such a tragedy is entrusted to a series of pictures testifying the impact of this experience on some Pisan artists, among whom Mario Bertini, Gino Bonfanti, Ferruccio Pizzanelli, Mino Rosi, Bruno Santochi, Giordano Viotto are worth mention.
