Pisa becomes "RoboTown", the city of robots, thanks to the second edition of the International Festival of Robotics, hosted for the second edition, from 27 September to 3 October 2018, in the Tuscan city that boasts one of the highest concentrations in the world of workers and of activities for the research, development, application of robotic systems towards ever wider sectors, which nowadays involve (and improve) every aspect of our daily life. After the debut of 2017, characterized by a record success with over 10 thousand appearances, the network of the institutions of Pisa confirms the significance and relevance of the Festival as a key element for planning further territorial development. to increase its notoriety worldwide and, above all, to demonstrate how robotics, in all its forms, is a technology that is friendly to humans. The robotic systems, in fact, are at the service of man to help him and to facilitate it, never to replace it, unless it is to perform heavy and dangerous tasks.
 
The memorandum of understanding is renewed, which involves engaging in the organization and support of the second International Festival of Robotics Tuscany Region, Municipality of Pisa, Province of Pisa, University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche of Pisa, BioRobotics Institute of Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, "E.Piaggio" Research Center of the University of Pisa, Endocas Center of Excellence of the University of Pisa, Irccs Stella Maris Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, University Hospital Pisana, Arpa Foundation. Confirmed the direction of the Festival of Franco Mosca, president of the Arpa Foundation and professor emeritus of general surgery at the University of Pisa. Renato Raimo has been reconfirmed as director of the artistic direction and will conduct the highlight, scheduled for October 3 at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, with the participation of Andrea Bocelli.
 
The venues that host the events of the 2018 edition of the International Robotics Festival are increasing, to meet the needs of a program where there are more areas of interest and that is distributed throughout the territory, from Versilia to Pontedera, along the Arno Valley. In Pisa, among the venues, there are the Republican Arsenals, the Benedictine convent and the Palazzo della Sapienza of the University of Pisa, the Stazione Leopolda, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the Navicelli, the Opera of the Primaziale, the Chamber of Commerce, the Enel Research Center, the Pisan Industrial Union, the Domus Mazziniana, the Officine Garibaldi, the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Natural Park, the Guelfa della Cittadella, the Museum and the Shipyard of Ancient Ships , the Wet Wood Restoration Center. With the new edition are added the Puccini Theater in Torre del Lago (Lucca) and the Piaggio Foundation in Pontedera (Pisa).
 
The program is taking shape and already includes dozens of events of a scientific, educational, musical and cultural nature, to respond to the needs of a wide and varied audience, just as the presence of robotics - understood in the broadest sense of the word - is wide. daily life. Events are planned on the contribution of robotics in health care, in humanitarian cooperation, in pleasure boating, also to allow people with different disabilities to face a safe sea voyage, in sport, in industry and in the labor market. The reflection will focus on the ethical, social, economic implications linked to the increasingly massive diffusion of robotics, without neglecting aspects that involve the "green economy", the recovery and conservation of cultural heritage, medicine, also exploring the role of professions such as that of the nurse in the management of new technologies.
 
Particular attention is paid to educational robotics, which allows the Festival to start a collaboration with the Internet Festival, scheduled from 11 to 14 October 2018, also in Pisa. Within the Internet Festival, educational robotics laboratories will be proposed, designed for school students, from elementary to high school. Thanks to this partnership, the Internet Festival and International Robotics Festival offer workshops that see the new generations as protagonists, to facilitate the involvement of students, teachers and all those who want to get in touch with robotics or deepen their knowledge of the technologies that are redesigning the future of education and teaching. About collaborations, to mark the one with BRIGHT 2018, the Researchers' Night, which in particular in the city of Pisa foresees widespread scientific dissemination events, with particular attention to robotics.
 
Also the second edition of the Festival presents a cultural billboard with concerts, shows and a special eye for the cinema, proposing the new film competition "Pisa Robot Film Festival", review to find out how strong the bond between the world of celluloid and that of robotics is. In a continuously updated program, with dozens of appointments, here are some dates not to be forgotten: 27 September inauguration at the Teatro Verdi; September 28th BRIGHT 2018, the Researchers' Night; September 29th (afternoon) "LOLA" concert, in the Great Hall of Sapienza, University of Pisa (afternoon), "ROBOTopera" at the Puccini Theater of Torre del Lago (evening); September 30th concert with the guitar belonging to Giuseppe Mazzini, at the Domus Mazziniana; 1 October concert of ancient instruments at the Domus Mazziniana (afternoon) "Totentanz" by Franz Liszt at the Monumental Camposanto of the Duomo of Pisa (evening); October 2 work "Don Cristobal" at the Gipsoteca of ancient art of the University of Pisa; 3 October concert with Andrea Bocelli and Maria Luigia Borsi at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.
