Sunday, May 8 returns Pisa Bimbimbici, the cheerful ride along the city streets, aimed primarily at children, but open to all. The event is intended to promote sustainable mobility and to spread the use of bicycles among the young and very young. The initiative is aimed primarily at children aged 5 to 11 years, the presence of parents is recommended.
Bimbimbici is the event organized by Fiab Pisa, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pisa, designed to solicit a general reflection on the need to moderate traffic and create 30 zones and bike paths to increase the livability of urban centers. It also wants to encourage the creation of protected home-school routes and "school roads", i.e. roads adjacent to schools where car traffic is temporarily blocked so that everyone can reach them safely.
The program of the day includes at 9.30 am the meeting in Piazza XX Settembre, with registration and recreational activities by Fiab and Uisp and at 10.30 am the beginning of the bike ride through the streets of the city. To allow all children to pedal according to their possibilities the paths will be two: the first, for all, will be a tour of the four central lungarni. At the second step in Piazza XX Settembre the little ones with wheels will stop, while the bulk of the procession will continue the route. At the end of the event, at the end of the morning, there will be a small snack offered by the De' Coltelli ice-cream parlour for all participating children.
On the Ponte di Mezzo there will be workshops, routes and activities to entertain the younger children who will stop after the tour of the Lungarni.

A bus with a mechanic and a doctor on board will follow the procession to deal with any falls. In order to participate in Bimbimbici it is necessary to register on Sunday morning before the start; registration costs 2 euros (1 euro for any brothers or sisters). To avoid queues, it is advisable to pre-register online at www.fiabpisa.it (until Saturday 7). In case of bad weather the event is postponed to Sunday, May 15.
