The city of Cascina, on the 30th of June, 1st and 2nd of July, will host the historical re-enactment 'Waiting for the Battle', which this year came to the 14th edition, organized by the Cascina AD 1364 Committee with the collaboration of 'Cascin municipal administration and the patronage of the province of Pisa and the region of Tuscany. This event is an integral part of the fixed calendar of every summer and is the ideal occasion to spend a family or friends' day in a different way from the usual and enjoy the surreal atmosphere that surrounds our historic center for those days.

 

The event, inserted in the list of historical recalls recognized by the Tuscany region, reports for three days the Middle Ages in Cascina. The course will be animated by markets, artists, performances, performances and remixes from all over Italy and Europe. This year, the performances will be as dense as ever: giant and brilliant, medieval dances and belly, fire performances, harp players, archery tournaments, the performance of the bandwagon of Lucca and the presence of Imposing medieval siege machines of the Larciano prologue (PT) and how every year we will be fighting in the scenario of Church Square, the best schermidors in Italy, in the long-awaited and followed Medieval Fighting Tournament.

 

Another great novelty this year will be the collaboration of the committee with Cascina Institute of Art. School students that will perform artistic work on the theme of Michelangelo Buonarroti and his famous cardboard of the Battle of Cascina. The works will be exhibited in the palace of the old Pretura on the ground floor. The exhibition will take place simultaneously with the medieval miniature exhibition of the enthusiastic miniature Cascino Enzo Pucciarelli. Exhibitions will be open to all visitors free of charge. The inauguration will take place on Thursday 29 June at 17.00.

 

Among the great novelties of this edition there will be the change of location of the medieval fighting tournament, this year will be held in the meadow next to the municipal library, is the unique participation of a woman fighter, Martina Ravarini, bronze medalist at the worlds of Medieval Combat 2017 in Barcelona. In addition, the event will be inaugurated by the spectacular launch of the Paratroopers of the Folgore that will carry the great Pisan flag and will land in the cemetery parking.
