For three days Pisa will host the international Petrarchan conference 'Fragmenta recollecta' thirty years after the publication of Marco Santagata's 'I frammenti dell'anima.' The venue for the event, from Thursday, May 12 to Saturday, May 14, will be Palazzo Blu.

The event will also involve leading figures from the world of culture and art such as Mario Pirovano, Dario Fo's pupil and artistic heir, who will present an innovative acting reading from the Petrarchan Canzoniere. The performance, which is free and open to the public while seats last, will take place in the auditorium of Palazzo Blu on Thursday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m.

Santagata's work represents a cornerstone in the study of Petrarch's vernacular: hence the idea of bringing together in Pisa the most authoritative scholars, both Italian and international, of Petrarch's lyric poetry in a conference that takes stock of what has happened in the last 30 years in the criticism and philology of the Canzoniere.

The conference, curated by Maria Cristina Cabani and Antonio Borrelli, is organized with the contribution and patronage of the University of Pisa, the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics, the Municipality of Pisa, the Pisa Foundation, the Petrarch Academy of Arezzo, the Il Mulino publishing house and the ADI - Association of Italianists.
