On Thursday 11 April at 4 p.m. there will be the opening of the Sensuability exhibition, the second event of the Rinascere d'ARTE project promoted by Circolo Zona D.
The exhibition, consisting of 60 boards by Italian artists, deals with the themes of sexuality and disability in an ironic, joyful and direct way. The boards on display deal with stereotypes and cultural prejudices about diversity, with the aim of encouraging a change of perspective in the relationship with people with disabilities.
The illustrations create erotic imagery depicting imperfect, yet extremely sensual bodies. People with disabilities are shown in their essence, with strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures, loves reciprocated and failed, joyful sexual adventures and the occasional rejection. In this way, the exhibition aims to shed new light on the very concept of sexuality, which is not the exclusive prerogative of beautiful and perfect bodies.
Now in its fourth edition, the Sensuability project stems from the collaboration with Comicon, which will be held in February at the Casa del Cinema in Rome. The authors participating in the call for entries promoted by the NessunotocchiMario Association are young artists called upon to reflect on the relationship between disability and sexuality through the languages of comics, cinema and painting. The creator of the project is Armanda Salvucci, president of the NessunotocchiMario Association, who will speak during the inauguration.
TheNessunotocchiMario Association counteracts cultural, social and sexual stereotypes and prejudices about disability and diversity. It supports freedom of expression, dignity and the rights of the prejudiced categories, acting and communicating through all forms of art, from cinematography to photography, from painting to music through comics. It promotes and organises conferences and meetings, publications, exhibitions and initiatives to raise awareness against all forms of discrimination.
The exhibition will be open until Sunday 14 April inclusive, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A workshop conducted by the Casa della Donna is also scheduled for Friday 12 April to share, discover and reconstruct together extraordinary paths and lives.
Rinascere d'ARTE is a project promoted by Circolo Zona D with the contribution of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies and the Region of Tuscany and the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa. The associations Casa della Donna, CSI Comitato Pisa, Cantiere San Bernardo collaborate with the project.
