With the exhibition “Toulouse-Lautrec et les Amis”, Pisa relives the atmosphere of early twentieth-century Paris, the beating heart of the Belle Époque. A period of great artistic and cultural ferment, in which painters, sculptors and poets transformed the French capital into an extraordinary creative laboratory.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, with his famous posters and portraits of Montmartre's nightlife, is the protagonist of this visual itinerary. Alongside him, the works of artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Marc Chagall, Soutine, Brancusi and Max Jacob tell the story of the birth of new expressive languages and the evolution of modern art.

Curated by Lisa Jako Matuschek, the exhibition takes place in the medieval spaces of the Eclektica Art Meinung Gallery and features works, never before exhibited in Italy, from private French collections. Toulouse-Lautrec et Les Amis, on display until February 24, pays homage to the protagonists of the Belle Époque and their heirs, offering a glimpse into a Paris that, wounded by the First World War, sought a path of rebirth in artistic creation.

The Montmartre and Montparnasse neighborhoods, with their ateliers full of ideas and insights, form the backdrop to a once-in-a-lifetime era that influenced European culture throughout the twentieth century. An exhibition designed for enthusiasts, collectors, and the simply curious, capable of speaking to everyone with images and visions that have made history.

Hours: Tuesday to Friday 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM, on other days by appointment only.
