Sunday 2 June renews the appointment with Sunday at the museum, lthe initiative of the Ministry of Culture that allows free admission, every first Sunday of the month, in museums and state archaeological parks. 

This year the initiative coincides with the Republic Day, and in Pisa adhere to the event these museums:

  • The National Museum of San Matteo will be open from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last entry at 1 p.m.) 

At 11 a.m. in "Hall of monumental sculpture" will be presented the new didactic and descriptive apparatus of the sculptures on display, supported and funded by the Rotary Club of Pisa. For the occasion, always in the same room, Professor Marco Collareta, former Professor of Medieval Art History at the University of Pisa, will hold a conference entitled "The three moments of Pisan sculpture before Nicholas";

  • The National Museum of Palazzo Reale will be open from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last entry at 1 p.m.)

At 11.00 a.m., as usual, the museum staff will offer a free guided tour of the museum collection with the theme ‘Women and Power: the female portrait at the time of the Medici’;
