On Sunday, November 1st, at 11.00 am at the National Museum of San Matteo, the conference will be held "Pisan sculpture of the fourteenth century: the Spina marbles".

The church of Santa Maria della Spina represents one of the most significant testimonies of the great Pisan sculptural tradition of the fourteenth century. The most important masters of the time contributed to its decoration, from Giovanni Pisano and his workshop to Giovanni di Balduccio, up to Andrea and Nino Pisano.

To ensure its preservation, since 1990 the original statues that adorned the exterior of the church have been kept at the National Museum of San Matteo. Copies of the original sculptures have been placed on the facade, side and back of the building.

Professor Marco Collareta will lead the public to discover the Spina Marbles preserved at the Museum, recounting the personalities, works, and innovations that have made the city of Pisa famous in this artistic technique.
