As part of the 6th Pisa Architecture Biennale, from October 24 to November 16, the large spaces of the Bastione del Parlascio will host the exhibition ‘Paolo Riani, la mia via è per l'architettura’. The event is a narrative of the life of a great international architect and will be opened by a conversation between critic Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, architect Massimo Del Seppia, and Paolo Riani.
Born in Barga (LU) in 1937, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Florence in 1965 and lives between Tokyo, Florence, and New York. A writer, photographer, and refined graphic designer, he distances himself from the international architectural critical debate to follow his own existential path in search of and discovery of those feelings that form the basis of his design. A life entirely dedicated to architecture, lived by risking his intelligence in experimenting with models and materials. Paolo Riani was Professor of Architecture at Columbia University and at Destec at the University of Pisa for ten years, Senator of the Republic for one term and Director by clear reputation of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. The exhibition consists of over seventy images and thirty models of buildings designed or constructed, images of travels and films that recount the adventures of sixty years of life spent traveling the world trying to learn the use of things.
The exhibition will be open during the opening hours of the Walls of Pisa, to which the Bastion is one of the entrances:
- in October, every day from 10 am to 6 pm;
- in November, every day from 10 am to 5 pm, with last admission at least 30 minutes before closing time;
Admission ticket: €5 full price, €3 reduced price, including the walk on the elevated walkway.
