
On Friday 28 February 2025 at 4.30 p.m. in the Church of San Paolo a Ripa d'Arno, the painting ‘Martyrdom of Saint Agatha’, restored by the Inner Wheel Club of Pisa with the contribution of the Fondazione Pisa, will be handed back to the city of Pisa. It is a work by Cipriano Melani, a little known painter, born in Pisa in 1606.
The meeting will be attended by all the organisations and people who contributed to the realisation of this project. On that occasion, Elena Salotti, an official of the Superintendency, and the restorer Silvia Zecchini will illustrate the phases of the restoration; Daria Gastone and Cristina Cagianelli will reconstruct the historical and artistic events concerning the painting and its author.
