From Sunday 28 September to Saturday 25 October 2025, the State Archives will host "Ti presento la famiglia Toscanelli" (Meet the Toscanelli family)

The Pisa State Archives opens its doors to younger people: discovering the Toscanellis among documents, history and games.
On the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Battista Toscanelli, the State Archives of Pisa proposes a series of special visits aimed at children and young people, to make the history of one of the most representative families of the city and of the palace that has been hosting the institute since 1913.

The activities, designed for two different age groups, will take place over four events and combine guided tours and educational workshops:

• Let's discover the cards (8-10 years): a journey to discover the original documents of the Toscanelli collection, enriched by games and animated readings, to learn while having fun.
• Family treasures (11-13 years old): an itinerary that guides children through the rooms of the building and the documents of the time, reviving the history of the Toscanelli family through an immersive and dynamic approach.
• A night in the Archive (8-10 years): a special experience, in the evening, to experience the Archive in a unique atmosphere, between mystery, discovery and tales from the past.

Young visitors will explore the historical environments of the Archive, which will come back to life thanks to written testimonies from the past and moments of play and storytelling.

With this initiative, the Pisa State Archives intends to bring new generations closer to a direct knowledge of historical sources, promoting a lively dialogue with the memory and cultural heritage of the city.

5 and 19 October, 4 pm-5.30 pm: Family Treasures (11-13 years old)
25 October, 9 pm-11 pm: One night in the Archive (8-10 years)
