*BEING UPDATED*
From 1 July to 2 August 2026, the “Le Notti dell’Archeologia” festival returns, offering a wonderful opportunity to take part in guided tours and in-depth sessions at museums and archaeological sites across Tuscany.
The theme for this twenty-sixth edition is ‘Archaeology that unites a divided world’. As usual, the festival features events for enthusiasts of all ages, including children and young people, for whom the great adventures and fascinations of the past continue to provide essential fuel for their curiosity and imagination.
Below are the events organised by the University of Pisa Museum Network:
- Tuesday 21 July 2026, 5.00 pm – Museum of Pathological Anatomy and Palaeopathology (Via Derna 1)
The museum is organising ‘Supportive Communities: Traces of Care in Antiquity’, a seminar led by Simona Minozzi, followed by a tour of the laboratory and the palaeopathology collection. Bioarchaeological evidence allows us to reconstruct not only the diseases and living conditions of past populations, but also the forms of care and support offered to the most vulnerable individuals. Through case studies drawn from archaeological contexts, the seminar will analyse evidence of care in antiquity, highlighting the role of solidarity and cooperation in the survival of human communities.
Free event; booking is essential by emailing info.map@sma.unipi.it
