On the occasion of Giugno Pisano, the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Pisa and Livorno is offering a series of free, accompanied visits to the "Torre della Verga d'Oro".

The tower, a splendid and unusual view of the Pisan Lungarni, is what remains of the ancient medieval buildings present in the perimeter which was later occupied by the new grand ducal palace of the Medici family, completed in 1587. Incorporated into the new building, it was, in the following years, a privileged place for discussion between Grand Duke Cosimo II and Galileo Galilei, who here showed him the potential of the telescope he was working on.

Opening Calendar:

  • Thursday, June 18th from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Friday, June 19th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Friday, June 26th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Visits will be handled by Superintendency staff and reservation is not required.
