Organised by the Museo della Grafica and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Pisa in collaboration with the Opera della Primaziale Pisana, the exhibition Francesco Mori. Pittore di luce is dedicated to the master Francesco Mori, one of the most authoritative international experts and interpreters of stained glass art.
The exhibition will be open until 3 May 2026.
Author of important works in Siena (from the 2006 reproduction of Duccio di Buoninsegna's stained glass window in the Cathedral to the painting of the Palio banner in 2015) and in Noto, Sicily (the new stained glass windows in the cathedral in 2009), the artist from Grosseto won the international competition in 2017 for the creation of four new stained glass windows for the Baptistery of Pisa Cathedral.
The preparatory drawings, studies and reproductions of the four stained glass windows of the Pisa Baptistery form the centrepiece of the exhibition, which, with its spectacular layout, aims to present a significant selection of graphic works and paintings that document the artist's original and fascinating research.
Thanks to the collaboration with the prestigious Mellini glassworks, the Florentine workshop that is Italian excellence in the world in the creation of artistic stained glass windows, light becomes the absolute protagonist in a journey that offers visitors profound emotions in the colours of the paintings and the reflections of the glass.
Exhibition opening with free admission: Tuesday, 10 March 2026, 5 p.m.
The retrospective, curated by Alessandro Tosi and Elena Del Rosso, is organised by the Museo della Grafica with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Pisa, in collaboration with and under the patronage of the Opera della Primarziale Pisana, the University of Pisa Museum System and Vetreria Mellini, with the support of Antiquario Il Borghetto – Pisa and ARTinGENIO MUSEUM.
