Start date:
End date:

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the European Day of Jewish Culture returns, an event aimed at citizens, dedicated to promoting awareness of Jews and Judaism in the complexity, plurality, and vitality of their history, cultural productions, and value propositions, as integral and essential components of Italian and European heritage.

Love will be the thematic thread that will run through the many locations participating, in Italy and Europe, in the 2026 edition. It is a theme with many facets and universal significance that occupies a central place in Jewish culture and ethics: it is present as a commandment and as a fundamental value in biblical texts and rabbinic commentaries, from love towards one's neighbor to that towards God and God's towards creation; it is not limited to the individual and intimate dimension of feeling, but also has collective ethical implications, linked to action, justice, to the solidarity and responsibility that underpin Jewish identity itself. A theme that also allows us to highlight the common roots between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, opening up perspectives for interreligious and intercultural dialogue and offering a unique opportunity to reflect on the Jewish contribution to Italian, European, and global culture.
