On Saturday, 6 December 2025, at 5 p.m., the exhibition space of the CentroArteModerna Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Pisa (Lungarno Mediceo 26) will host the opening of the group exhibition “Colours: Autumn Edition 2025”, curated by Massimiliano Sbrana.

This new edition of the “Colours” exhibition is a true sensory and intellectual journey through the universal language of colour, an element that has always accompanied the history of art and culture. Colour is not just visual perception: it is emotion, symbol, memory. It is a bridge that unites eras and civilisations, capable of expressing what words cannot, and of creating a silent but powerful dialogue between artist and viewer.

Since the dawn of time, colour has played a central role: from cave paintings and rituals in ancient civilisations, where every shade had a magical or sacred value, to the luministic revolutions of Impressionism, which freed colour from the mere imitation of reality. With Fauvism and Expressionism, colour became the absolute protagonist, capable of conveying moods and inner visions with autonomous force. In contemporary art, colour continues to renew itself and surprise: artists experiment with unconventional materials, digital technologies and immersive installations, transforming colour perception into a total experience. At the same time, psychology and neuroscience have shown how colours influence emotions, decisions and even psychophysical well-being, confirming their universal power.

In this scenario, autumn becomes a privileged metaphor: a season that offers a natural palette of reds, oranges and golds, evoking both melancholy and rebirth, tranquillity and reflection. It is a time of transition, when nature is dressed in warm, enveloping tones, inviting contemplation and awareness of the cycle of life. The artists in the exhibition have been able to translate this chromatic richness into works that do not merely represent reality, but interpret and transform it, giving the public an aesthetic and emotional experience that goes beyond the surface.

Each painting, each work of art thus becomes an invitation to grasp the deeper meaning of every nuance: to recognise colour not only as a visual element, but as a language that speaks of us, our emotions and our relationship with the world. 'Colours: Autumn Edition 2025' is therefore an opportunity to immerse yourself in the ephemeral beauty of autumn hues and discover how art can transform colour perception into an experience of life, memory and renewal.
