The racecourse is getting ready for the 135th Premio Pisa, scheduled today in San Rossore, an event that takes on a special significance this year because it celebrates an anniversary: the 70th anniversary of Ribot’s victory (the race took place on 6 March 1955). Since the myth of Ribot, decades have passed in which the Albo d'Oro has seen so many excellent horses that have held high the meaning of this race so much that the Ministry wanted to include the day of the Pisa prize in the national program of "great events". But the afternoon of Pisa reserves many other reasons for interest. There are in fact on the agenda tests of absolute technical importance and spectacular: the 26th prize Region Tuscany, Super Handicap for horses with a great distance, and the 67th prize San Rossore, Main Handicap in which the artistic trophy that the Head of State each year puts up for grabs will be won. The international target is assured by the Fegentri prize, a race reserved for amateur riders and valid for the world championship in this category. Another race is highly anticipated, the Joy Award, a rich conditional for 3-year-old females. Finally, two important sponsors complete a program of great trials: the awards Casa di Cura di San Rossore and Banco Fiorentino.

The afternoon of the 135° Premio Pisa will live many different moments in addition to the seven races scheduled from the ceremony of the raising of the flag with the presence of the soldiers of the Regiment of Savoia Cavalleria and the Carabinieri Forestali on horseback that have so many links with the history of San Rossore. The audience will be welcomed by the virtuosic duo of guitars Lorenzo Niccolini and Andrea Barsali. Also this year the racecourse will live the initiative Hats Day for which the public is invited to wear a headdress, bizarre or elegant. The best ones will be able to participate in the contest for prizes. Ladies with hats will have free access to the racecourse. Between one race and the other the track will welcome a great show in three pictures. The well-known artist Silvia Resta and the Portuguese stallion Brillante de Zar, will amaze the audience with a series of equestrian performances in which theatre, costumes and music by Puccini and Ciaikovskij are intertwined to create emotions. A second 'figure' will be represented by Giorgia who will dance in a choreography with the horse, a third by Seline who will present on stage with stilts for a performance of juggling and dancing. Meanwhile, on the parterre, during the whole afternoon will be filled by the exhibition of juggling, trampolery and clowneria de I Chicchi d'Uva. Present also the folklore with a large representation of costumed figures of the Bridge Game.

But the racecourse will also live on many other initiatives.  Two demonstration pony races with their young riders and a special edition of the tour "Dietro le Quinte". There will also be a moment of solidarity with the presence at the racetrack of AIL, the Italian Association against Leukaemia, which will sell chocolate eggs in a dedicated stand whose proceeds will help finance research against leukemia. The central restaurant, bar and bistro will be open from 12:00 to enjoy a lunch on the track, while the kiosk dedicated to street food will distribute hot dogs, burgers and beer.

The parade of the 135° Pisa prize will, as always, be a spectacle in itself for the pathos that is created while waiting for the great race. The horses will be accompanied on the track by 2 butteri and then, eager to run, they will pass under the central grandstand: may the best win!
