Trammino Cycle Path
The Trammino Cycle Path connects Pisa with the Pisan coast, following the former route of the historic railway line known as the Trammino. A pleasant route to explore by bicycle, it passes through a variety of landscapes and provides a way to reach the coast away from traffic and the more heavily frequented routes.
Starting in Pisa, the route passes through green spaces, countryside and built-up areas, with the landscape gradually changing along the way. The urban environment gives way to open countryside before reaching the coastal landscape and the seaside resorts.
The restoration of the former railway line as a cycle path offers an opportunity to rediscover an important chapter of local history, transforming a former piece of railway infrastructure into a route dedicated to cycling and the enjoyment of the surrounding landscape.
The route is ideal for visitors wishing to combine a visit to Pisa with an outdoor experience. It can also be enjoyed as a full-day excursion, combining cycling with stops at places of interest along the way and, once the coast is reached, a walk along the seafront or a relaxing break at one of the seaside resorts.
The route forms part of the Arno Cycle Path, which follows the River Arno from its source to the sea, and is also incorporated into the Tyrrhenian Cycle Route, the major long-distance cycle route running along Italy’s Tyrrhenian coast.
