For 19 years, the Pisa Book Festival has been one of the most eagerly awaited Italian cultural events of the year, with over 200 events on the calendar, 500 national and international guests and 150 exhibiting publishers from all the Italian regions. Founded in 2003 to give visibility to small independent publishers, it has established itself as an international stage for writers and artists with a programme that ranges from meetings with authors to conferences, from writing workshops to shows and readings.

The Festival returns from Thursday 30 September to Sunday 3 October with more than 50 events over four days, three venues, 70 publishing houses and over 100 guests and authors of the moment.

The venue for the space dedicated to independent publishing will be the Arsenali Repubblicani, while meetings with authors, workshops and masterclasses will be held in the museums of Palazzo Blu and the Navi Antiche in Pisa, thus creating an unprecedented cultural itinerary along the river Arno.

The latest novelty is the creation of the first Pisa Book Translation Award reserved for publishers registered in the Festival catalogue in the years 2019-2020 and 2021.
