For Marco Grondona, an event at Palazzo Blu

On 6 October, organised by the Area Foundation and the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, with Fabrizio Della Seta

A meeting and a concert to remember Marco Grondona, professor first of Latin Literature, then of History of Music and Musical Dramaturgy at the University of Pisa, who passed away in 2019. The event, organised by the Area Foundation, the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa and the Seminar of Textual Interpretation, in collaboration with Palazzo Blu, will be held on Thursday 6 October in the auditorium of Palazzo Blu (5.15 p.m.). The initiative will be opened by greetings from the institutions, followed by the presentation of Marco Grondona's book, 'Tutti pazzi per Marx! An evening with Francesco Orlando' (Djinn 2019). Fabrizio Della Seta (University of Pavia) will speak about the book, in a meeting coordinated and moderated by Alessandro Cecchi (University of Pisa). Published by Marco Grondona shortly before his death, the book offers a reflection on many musical themes dear to him, with particular reference to Wagner's Tetralogy. After a moment of discussion, pupils, friends and colleagues will remember him as a teacher, scholar and author of numerous essays on Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Gluck, Mozart, Schubert, Wagner, Strauss and other important composers and operas, up to Menotti and Glass. At the end of the afternoon there will be a concert dedicated to Marco Grondona, with Luigi Nannetti (transverse flute) and Massimo Signorini (accordion), his students at the University of Pisa.
