The Walls of Pisa are preparing to celebrate the Christmas season with special events and themed decorations.
It starts on Saturday 16 December with the children's workshop 'Let's Colour Christmas on the Walls': from 3.00 to 4.30 p.m. at the Torre del Catallo space, which directly overlooks Piazza dei Miracoli, decorations will be made with reused material, in particular paper and cardboard. The works will be used to decorate the monument. Dedicated to children up to the age of 10, maximum 15 participants and tickets cost €5, accompanying adults must enter free of charge. Possibility of staying until 5pm to enjoy the sunset over Piazza dei Miracoli from the top of the walkway.
Saturday 23 December, with a repeat performance on Saturday 30 December, will be the turn of the film tour curated by Acquario della Memoria, an original tale that, through immersive projections and audio, allows visitors to relive the history of the city from Roman times to medieval glories, from the industrial revolution to the present day. From the ingenious workings of the Roman baths to the vicissitudes of the Marzotto factory, passing through the splendours of the Maritime Republic and the life of Laura Ruschi: departure at 6.00 pm from the Torre Piezometrica (Polo Fibonacci, ex Marzotto, with access from the pedestrian and cycle path outside the Walls that can be reached from Via San Francesco or Via Vittorio Veneto), arriving at approximately 7.30 pm in Piazza dei Miracoli. The length of the walk is approximately 2 kilometres. Tickets are 10 euro (plus 1.50 euro pre-sale), free of charge for accompanying persons with disabilities, recommended for visitors aged 12 and over.
The high walk every day offers visitors a unique view of the city from above: from the beauty of Piazza dei Miracoli to the Lungarni, a 3 km urban walk at a height of 11 metres immersed in the city's greenery, with 4 access points and free app to discover the secrets of the Walls. Open from Monday to Sunday including Boxing Day and New Year's Day from 10am to 5pm with last admission at 4.30pm; only closing day Monday 25 December.
