On Sunday, 7 June at 9:30 p.m., the second special edition of Walking Cinema, presented by MOSAICO PISA, will take place: a nocturnal walk along the Lungarni that transforms Pisa into a widespread cinematic screen through itinerant projections, sound narratives, and live music.
An immersive experience between cinema, memory, and the city
Through wireless headphones and video projections cast onto the city’s walls, participants will walk through archival images, family films, and forgotten stories: the Regatta of San Ranieri and the Regatta of the Maritime Republics from the 1930s to the 1960s; the historic swimming race in the Arno filmed by Mario Benvenuti; the navicellai; the collapse of Ponte Solferino; the flood of 1966; and Pisa divided in two by the war in July 1944.
The final stop will take place at the Cittadella, featuring live sound performances by Davide Barbafiera (electronic keyboards), accompanying rare footage of the bridge inauguration in 1957, the acrobatics of the Vespa Club, and the concluding “megamix” of MOSAICO PISA film reels.
A journey through history, urban memory, and expanded cinema, where places come back to life through images from the past.
