Pisa Jazz Rebirth is back at Palazzo Blu: four concerts for a journey through jazz and song.
The prestigious collaboration between Pisa Jazz and Palazzo Blu continues, a well-established synergy that, also in the context of the summer festival, brings a refined and transversal review to the splendid setting of the Pisan palace.
Four exclusive appointments that draw a sound itinerary capable of combining the great jazz tradition with contemporary languages, interweaving different cultures, styles and musical poetics. A true journey through music, where song - in its broadest sense - meets improvisation, research, memory and innovation.
The concerts will be held in the cloister of the Palazzo Blu.
The first appointment will be on Sunday 15 June at 9.30 p.m. with Olivia Trummer, a German pianist and singer with an extraordinary sensitivity, capable of naturally crossing Bach, the Great American Songbook and Stevie Wonder, blending her influences in an intimate and visionary concert.
On Thursday 19 June at 9.30 p.m. it will be the turn of Babanaì, an all-female trio composed of Barbara Casini, Anaïs Drago and Barbara Piperno, who weave together Brazilian sounds, world music and original creations, in a musical exploration rich in ethnic suggestions, vocality and multi-instrumentalism.
Third appointment Sunday 22 June, always at 9:30 p.m., "Roots" Ada Montellanico, Simone Graziano and Filippo Vignato will give life to a project focused on blues as the matrix of jazz, with a tribute to the female voice in African-American music. A concert that is also a political and cultural act, in which the past regenerates into the present. Introduction by Francesco Martinelli.
The exhibition closes on Thursday 26 June at 9:30 p.m., the extraordinary couple Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello*** with Il cielo è pieno di stelle, a heartfelt and poetic tribute to Pino Daniele. An iconic repertoire re-read with elegance and jazz inspiration, between nostalgia and new sound visions.
