The Feast of Saint Francis returns after many years and resumes an event that, until the 1970s, represented a particularly heartfelt moment for the community of Tirrenia.
The initiative aims to enhance the celebration and figure of Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Italy, through opportunities for encounter, social interaction, and participation for all age groups. The celebrations will begin on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:00 pm with the transit of Saint Francis.
Holy Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, October 4th at 11:00 am, while in the afternoon, games for adults and children, crochet, drawing, and graphic art workshops, and a demonstration of the game of bocce will be organized in the parish garden. A snack will also be offered to those present. The activities are also designed to foster encounters between children, adults, and the elderly, creating opportunities for the exchange of skills and knowledge between generations. At 4:30 pm, civil and religious authorities will speak at Ciro Plebe Park, formerly Ciclilandia, in Piazza dei Fiori in Tirrenia. This will be followed by a free gospel concert by the Revelation Gospel Choir, directed by teacher Lorenza Catricalà, with a fundraiser for needy families in the Pisan coastal community.
