On Saturday 25 April 2026, Pisa will host the 45th edition of the Strapazzata, the city’s traditional fun run and walk, which returned last year after an eleven-year hiatus and has always attracted enthusiasts, families and local residents.

The meeting point is set for 9.30 am at the Torre della Cittadella, on Lungarno Simonelli, a symbolic location for the event and the historic starting point since the very first editions.

The initiative is organised by the Municipality of Pisa in collaboration with Pisa Road Runners Club A.S.D. and the Uisp Committee of Pisa.

The 2026 edition will have a special connection with the Historical Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics, scheduled for 2 June on the Arno. For this reason, the event’s official T-shirt will be red, paying homage to the colours of Pisa and to this prestigious event in which the city will take centre stage. The T-shirt will be reserved for the first 1,500 participants who pre-register online.

Among the new features of the 2026 edition will be a route brought to life by music, with DJ sets, stages and entertainment dotted along the course. The day will therefore be characterised not only by sporting activity, but also by a festive and communal atmosphere, in line with the ‘Family Music & Run’ format.

Dogs will also be permitted, provided they are muzzled and comply with the safety regulations set by the organisers. As part of the event, an initiative dedicated to responsible adoption and animal welfare will also be promoted, with the presence of animal welfare officers from the Nucleo Operativo Guardia Rurale Ausiliaria (N.O.G.R.A.) and representatives from the Soffio di Vento municipal dog shelter, who will lead an awareness-raising session for participants and members of the public in attendance.

The event will also feature the participation of the ‘Io sto con Chiara’ foundation, presenting its ‘Clown Therapy’ project, which aims to promote support activities for children and families undergoing hospitalisation and treatment, through initiatives designed to bring comfort, serenity and moments of relief.

Online registration will remain open until 22 April at 11.00 pm. The participation fee is set at €12 for adults and €10 for minors. After this, it will be possible to register in person at a cost of €15 at the Vecchi Macelli, the venue also designated for the collection of materials, scheduled for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Groups of at least three people can register for €10 by requesting the registration form from info@pisarrc.it.

Particular attention will be paid to health and safety. La Strapazzata 2026 will, in fact, be a heart-safe event thanks to our partnership with the Amico Cuore association. Along the route, there will be first-aid specialists and defibrillators ready for use, with stations located every kilometre.

The event also reaffirms its collective and community-building ethos. The top 20 largest groups will be awarded trophies made from recycled wood and using natural dyes, to reinforce the focus on environmental sustainability and material recycling. Companies, associations, neighbourhoods, gyms, sports clubs and other local organisations are welcome to participate, helping to broaden public involvement even further.

Our thanks go to the support groups along the route, including: the Pisa branch of the Alpini d’Italia, the National Association of Finance Officers, the ‘Io sto con Chiara’ association, the Mag Stage association and the Viviamo Pisa portal.
