From Saturday, November 22nd to Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CentroArteModerna in Pisa, directed by Massimiliano Sbrana, will host the exhibition "Alberto Berti & Foreign Artist".

The protagonist of the event is Alberto Berti, a painter born in Jasi and resident in Pisa for many years. His artistic career is marked by an intense journey around the world: from Europe to Asia, from the Americas to Africa. Each stage represented for him an encounter with different cultures, traditions and sensibilities, which were reflected in his painting as fragments of a universal mosaic. Berti has transformed these experiences into a visual language capable of combining Italian roots and international influences, making Pisa the ideal crossroads for an artistic dialogue that transcends geographical and temporal boundaries.

The exhibition not only celebrates Berti's talent, but also opens up to foreign artists who have exhibited at the GAMeC in Pisa, creating a bridge between Italian heritage and international voices. On display, alongside Berti's works (Fibonacci Room), we will find works by Marius Bauer, Katerina Bodrunova, Maura Bolliger, Urs Borner, Patrick Degli Esposti, Berny Fink, Simone Gendille, Eric Halberg, Karien Heijtlager, Holm Lamp, Philippe Labarthe, Cloude Lafoy, Francisco Melo, Marylu Melo, Tove Bruun Munch, Anna Ostanina, Koleuschi Prezzenplen, Luis Schiavo, Viacheslav Shmagin, Piet Van Leuven, Jana Zanoskar and Kodra. (Galilei Hall).

The connection between Berti's travels and the presence of these foreign artists is the beating heart of the exhibition: his canvases, born from encounters with distant landscapes and diverse cultures, dialogue with works that carry with them the memory of other geographies and other histories. In this interweaving, the visitor will be able to perceive how the experience of the journey becomes not only a source of individual inspiration, but also an opportunity for discussion and collective exchange.

“Alberto Berti & Foreign Artists” is therefore an exciting journey through time and space: the works of the years ’80, ’90 and 2000 dialogue with the present, demonstrating how artistic memory continues to inspire and stimulate new reflections. The group exhibition offers the public a unique opportunity to rediscover often-forgotten artists and to understand the vitality of a heritage that remains relevant and necessary.

With this initiative, CentroArteModerna confirms its vocation as a meeting place and cultural enhancement, capable of giving voice to both Italian and foreign artists. Pisa thus established itself as a city open to the world, where art became a universal language and a tool for dialogue between different cultures, generations, and sensibilities.

The exhibition, part of the "Artist Roster" project, created in collaboration with the Art Archive Collection of the GAMeC in Pisa, will continue until December 3, 2025, with free admission.
