On Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June 2025, the 9th edition of “Trame Indipendenti - International Festival of Independent Short Films” will be held at the Parco delle Concette.
The festival is organised by the Trame Indipendenti association, in collaboration with the Cinema Arsenale and under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa.
Starting at 9 p.m., in the setting of the Parco delle Concette (access from Piazza San Silvestro), two evenings of cinema and participation, with free admission, await the citizens.
Friday 20 June will see the screening of the ten finalist short films in the Documentary and Animation categories. On Saturday 21 June that of the ten finalist short films in the Narrative category.
Both evenings will be conducted by Fabrizio Bartelloni. At the end of the final evening on 21 June, the winners of the three categories will be announced, who will be awarded the prize of the qualified jury, the special prize awarded by Cinema Arsenale, a historic partner of the festival, and the audience prize. During the evenings, the public will be able to vote for their favourite short film, contributing to award the audience's prize, and will be able to talk to some of the candidate directors, guests of the Festival, from Poland, Italy and Turkey.
The jury of the 9th edition is chaired by Federico Greco (film-maker, lecturer and essayist), flanked by Bianca Cambiaso (volunteer at Cinema Arsenale), Matteo Cossi (producer, director and lecturer), Sara Lorenzelli (student in Communication Sciences at the University of Pisa), Veronica Neri (lecturer in Media Ethics at the University of Pisa), Abramo Tesoro (member of Trame Indipendenti), Elisa Torsiello (film critic and collaborator at Cinema Arsenale).
A total of 34 countries participated in the 2025 edition, of which 15 were selected in the final: Belgium, Croatia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, France, India, Iran, Italy, Netherlands, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, USA. The four short film finalists in the Documentary category are: Free Words: A Poet from Gaza by Abdullah Harun Ilhan (Netherlands, Palestine, Turkey), Children of The Lake by Mohammad Alimoradi (Iran), The Book of Mario by Daniel Chamorro (Spain), Euphemia by Jerzy Czachowski (Poland) The six short film finalists in the Animations category are: In Our Hands by Camillo Sancisi (Italy), Dark Globe by Donato Sansone (Italy), Family Portrait by Lea Vidakovic (Croatia), Silent as Fish by Antonio Stoccuto (Italy), Ghariba & Ajeeb by Boubaker Boukhari (United Arab Emirates), Good memories by Stanislav Dobrovskiy (Portugal). Out of competition: E-13 by Daniele Pieracciani (Italy). The ten short film finalists in the Narrative category are: Lunge by Negar Hassanzadeh (Iran), Dig by Jandro (Spain), V's Secret by Bassma Farah Nancy (Egypt), Ya Hanouni by Lyna Tadount, Sofian Chouaib (France), The Princess by Mohamad Hossain Abasi (Iran), Mercato Libero by Giuseppe Cacace (Italy), Circle by Ferhat Ertan (Turkey), Ever There by Daniel Grace (USA), Green Blood by Adrien Lengrand (Belgium), Rage by Raj Bharath Rajagopal (India).
