From 25 October to 16 November the Complex of the Galilean Citadel (Vecchi Macelli) hosts, with free entry, the exhibition “Lamberto Bartolucci – architecture. The post-war reconstruction in Pisa”, an exhibition dedicated to the Pisan architect who, in the midst of the reconstruction after the Second World War, contributed significantly to the definition of the modern face of the city.
The initiative is organized by the Agave Cooperative and curated by architect Federico Bracaloni, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pisa and with the North West Tuscany Chamber of Commerce, University of Pisa, Province of Pisa, Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Natural Park Authority, Confcommercio, Rotary Club Pisa Galilei, Loveco Srl, Castagneto Banca and Unicoop Firenze.
The exhibition offers a thematic exhibition itinerary dedicated to the architectural research of Lamberto Bartolucci (1914–1963), a figure capable of intertwining innovative languages, materials and visions, author of buildings that are symbols of the Pisan urban landscape, including the Palazzo della Borsa, the San Giusto Airport, the Church of San Rossore and the arrangement of Largo Ciro Menotti. A pupil of Giovanni Michelucci and winner of important architecture competitions, Bartolucci was the protagonist of the fervent post-war Pisan cultural climate, distinguishing himself for an essential and functional style, capable of reconciling modernity and tradition. The exhibition, divided into several thematic sections, presents original documents, projects and photographs from the private Bartolucci archive, largely unpublished.
The exhibition will be open from 25 October to 16 November 2025, from Friday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 13:00 /16:00-19:00, and free entry.
In addition to the main layout at the Galilean Citadel, a special section is planned at the Palazzo degli Affari e della Borsa Merci in Pisa, which can be visited during the opening hours of the Chamber of Commerce.
