Over 700 exceptional sites – usually not open to the public, little-known and off the beaten track – will take centre stage at the 2026 FAI Autumn Open Days, scheduled for Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October in 350 towns and cities across the peninsula, from north to south.
Now in its fifteenth edition, this major public event returns: every autumn, the FAI dedicates it to our country’s cultural and landscape heritage. It is a widespread celebration – organised by the FAI regional delegations and local FAI groups, with the vital involvement of young volunteers – which reaffirms the Foundation’s commitment to promoting, amongst the widest possible public, of our country’s rich and varied heritage of history, art and nature, to encourage its protection and enhancement with everyone’s contribution, and thus fulfil its mission of cultural and civic education. Taking part in the FAI Autumn Open Days is not only an opportunity to discover and enjoy the heritage that surrounds us, but also a practical way to contribute to its care and enhancement through the FAI’s work; indeed, with every visit, you can support the Foundation’s mission by making a donation.
