The Walls also participate in the Chinese New Year celebrations: from February 17th we enter the year of the Fire Horse. On Saturday, February 7, the Bastione del Parlascio will host a series of performances organized by the EstOvestEst association in collaboration with the Municipality of Pisa as part of the program ‘Pisa & Hohhot 2026 for the Italian-Chinese tourist and cultural week‘.

From 3 to 5 pm, inside the Bastione, the signing of a cooperation agreement between artistic institutions in Hohhot and Pisa will be followed by artistic initiatives that intertwine traditions, contemporary languages, and experimentation. It starts with 11 young people in traditional dress from the Inner Mongolia region who will perform a typical dance. Among the protagonists of the day, the performance ‘Joys on the Body‘, curated by the Con.Cor.DA Company / Movimentoinactor, choreographed by Flavia Bucciero and performed by dancers Alice Covili and Camilla Esposito, offers a poetic reinterpretation of the body in movement, inspired by an imaginary Orient filtered through an Italian sensibility. Dance integrates goldsmith creations by Martine Friselli (Atelier Dorè) and Barbara Montesi (Madrigal Gioielli), in a dialogue between gesture, matter and transformation.

The visual arts will find space with the intervention of the class ‘4aE – figurative arts section’ of the Russoli Art High School, engaged in an impromptu painting activity inspired by the Chinese anniversary of the year of ‘Fire Horse’. The works are created live in the Parlascio space, on recycled media, as an expression of a shared and participated creative process, which will be exhibited at the Parlascio in the following days.

Completing the dialogue between performing arts and contemporary languages, artist Cibarius presents a generative digital visual composition, conceived as a choreographic work that accompanies dances, reworking iconographic elements of the dancers' tradition within a digital visual poetics, in continuity with the project ‘Unframed’.

On this occasion, you can visit the exhibition by Pisan cartoonist Tuono Pettinato, who has always been attentive to Pisa and who in many of his works has emphasized the importance of local activities, as well as the relationship between cultures.

For the duration of the event, entry to Bastione alone will be free, while for the climb and walk along the high-altitude walkway, tickets are 5 euros, 3 euros for residents.
