Saturday, May 28 will be the date for the 2022 edition of 'Mura Sottosopra', an urban journey under and over the ancient medieval city wall to discover its secrets, better understand its original function and learn how the city's urban context has evolved over the centuries. An event sponsored by Amur, Association for the Walls of Pisa, in collaboration with the association of Cooperatives that manages visits to the high walkway
Meeting in front of Porta Nuova, between Piazza dei Miracoli and Piazza Manin, at 4:30 p.m.: the participants, accompanied by Professor Ilario Luperini president of the association, will walk from Porta Buoza inside the Santa Chiara complex, the only remaining evidence of the Walls in this area, until they reach Porta Nuova opened in 1562 during the Florentine domination that replaced the nearby Porta del Leone in its function as the main access to the city. The route continues with observation of the foundation step of the Walls, touching on the Porta del Catallo and Porta del Leone to the Porta Santa Maria opened in 1968 next to the tower of the same name, now ascending the elevated walkway that can be explored in its entire length until closing at 8 pm.
Tickets at 5 euros including entrance to the elevated walkway, maximum 35 people, reservations recommended by email at luperini.ilario@gmail.com or by phone and whatsapp at 346-3165759.
