Volterra, a town near Pisa,  will be hosting a cycle of artistic events for the two-year period 2014-2015. The opening event will be a grand exhibition devoted to Rosso Fiorentino. The artist’s outstanding masterpieceDescent from the Cross constitutes the focus of a tribute involving some of the most prestigious venues in the city.

The exhibition ‘Rosso Fiorentino. Rosso Vivo. La Deposizione, la Storia, il ‘900, il Contemporaneo’ is promoted by the Municipality of Volterra in partnership with the local Diocese. It is produced and organized by the Arthemisia Group, and curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. The event has been conceived and planned by Alberto Bartalini.

The works of leading 20th-century artists are displayed through six different exhibits, each of which offers insights and food for thought on Rosso Fiorentino and his outstanding masterpiece.
