The future according to Chinese cinema'. It is the first time in its now long-running activity that the PiThe titles proposed by the 2023 edition of the Pisa Chinese Film Festival have the science fiction strand in common. This is the first time in its now long-lived activity that the Pisa Chinese Film Festival has tackled a specific 'genre', identifying its peculiar aspects, both stylistic and in terms of content. Science Fiction, since its origins, has been a litmus test of a vision of the future, a precious document on the identity of a culture, its expectations, its deep-rooted fears. The choice of films on the bill is the result of a synthesis of the best works of the last year of film activity made in China, a sort of declination of the genre's most representative 'readings' of this important phenomenon: from catastrophic films to 'close encounters', from interplanetary travel to cosmic apocalypses. A renewed approach, which has identified in the field some of the titles that have met the taste of the world's largest audiences, with special attention to fashions, characters, but also to the 'signatures' that enrich the panorama of the contemporary Chinese film industry. China represents a privileged observatory on what are today's tastes, avant-gardes, even stories that sometimes also take place in the European context.
All titles on the bill will be free admission and in original language, with Italian subtitles. Spectators are guaranteed entry while places are available.sa Chinese Film Festival confronts a specific 'genre'.
